How many times have you found yourself in life, knowing you need to make a change…and at the same time fearing making that change?
Wondering: “What if I make this big change and my life gets worse?”
Maybe it’s a career, business or relationship that no longer feels aligned.
When faced with the uncertainty and unpredictability of making change, our brains try to keep us safe by playing out the worst-case scenarios.
The result? More often than not, we convince ourselves to stay put. And we justify staying put with things like:
“I only have 5 more years until retirement and pension, I can’t quit now.”
“I’m 53, it’s too late to start all over.”
But how often do we entertain the best-case scenarios?
“What if I start my own business and find that I’m even more financially secure?”
“What if I leave this marriage and feel even happier and more at peace than ever?”
What we don’t speak about often enough is the true cost of staying put.
The cost of settling. The cost of quieting our inner knowing, in favor of making others happy and not rocking the boat.
That cost is often deep resentment.
A loss of identity. A loss of trust in ourselves and others.
And ultimately, a life of regret.
Tune into today’s episode to begin tapping into your courage to live the life you long for, versus continuing to settle for a life you’ve outgrown.
